MIXING
Obtain a clear/clean space to prepare the
Be sure all the necessary supplies are available to complete infusion from beginning to end. You will need IV start supplies, syringe and needle to reconstitute and draw up medication, tubing and compatible solution
Reconstitute vial by adding 10 ml of sterile water
Resulting in a solution of either 30 mg/10 ml or 90 mg/10 ml
Further dilution in compatible solution is required – see pharmacy’s instructions

ADMINISTRATION
Take baseline vitals and document basic assessment
Infuse as directed by pharmacy.
Monitor patient for any adverse reactions
Record vitals every 15 minutes after infusion start, AND 5-10 minutes post infusion
Record lot numbers and expiration dates for vials used.
Disconnect patient, flush line, and remove IV
Place pressure bandage at site
Clean and dispose of used supplies
