MIXING
Obtain a clear/clean space to prepare the
Be sure all the necessary supplies are available to complete infusion from beginning to end.
You will need one 10 mL silicone-free syringe and IV start kit and butterfly needle.
Make sure medication and sterile water are at room temperature.
Mix the medication and the diluent using the Mix2vial Transfer set.
Withdraw the medication using a 10 ml silicone-free syringe.
ADMINISTRATION
1.    Take baseline vitals and document basic assessment.
2.    Infuse at a rate of 4ml per minute.
3.    Monitor patient for any adverse reactions.Â
4.    Record vitals pre infusion and then post infusion.
5.    Record lot numbers and expiration dates for vials used.
6.    Disconnect patient, flush line, and remove IV. Place pressure bandage at site.
7.    Clean and dispose of used supplies.
