MIXING
NOTE: HYQVIA comes with a Hy component and an IG component.Â
DO NOT mix the Hy component with the IG component. They are given separately.  Â
Hy is a tissue expander. The IG must be started within 10 minutes of infusing the IG.Â
First prepare the Hy component of HyQvia
Prepare the IG and have it ready to infuse.Â
See the attached for preparation either using the HyHub system or using a pooling bag.
ADMINISTRATION
Take baseline vital signs, and document basic assessment. Take vitals every 15 minutes for the first hour and then hourly thereafter AND 5-10 minutes post infusion.
Choose your infusion sites, clean the sites and access the sites with the needles placing Tegaderm or tape over the needles.  Â
Attach your needle set with the Hy and check for any blood return. If no blood return, continue. If blood return, remove the needle and start with a new needle set.Â
Infuse the Hy
If slow IVP at a rate of 1 – 2 ml/minute.Â
When Hy has been infused, clamp it, remove the syringe, attach the IG set, unclamp, and start the IG infusion and complete. Must start IG infusion within 10 minutes of infusing the Hy.Â
