MIXING
Obtain a clear/clean space to prepare the KRYSTEXXA
Kyrstexxa comes in either a ready- to-use vial or a to-be-diluted vial.Â
Ready-to-use Vial:
You will need: IV start kit, infusion pump and tubing, vented spike
Spike the vial using a vented spike and infuse straight from the vial
To-be-diluted Vial:
To-be-diluted Vial: IV start kit, needle and syringe to draw up medication, 250 ml bag of 0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection, USP or 0.45% Sodium Chloride Injection, USP; gravity flow tubing or IV tubing and pump
Draw up the appropriate amount and inject into the 250 ml bag of fluids
Gently invert the infusion bag to ensure mixing; do not shake
ADMINISTRATION
Take baseline vitals and document basic assessment
Infuse over 120 minutes
Ready-to-use Vial: Rate will be 25 ml/hr
To-be-diluted Vial: Rate will be 125 ml/hr
Monitor patient for any adverse reactions
Record vitals every 15 minutes after infusion start, AND 5-10 minutes post infusion
Record lot numbers and expiration dates for vials used
After the entire contents of the vial have been administered, flush the IV line with sodium chloride injection to ensure delivery of the required dose
Disconnect patient, flush line, and remove IV
Place pressure bandage at site
Clean and dispose of used supplies
