ALWAYSÂ make sure you have everything you need to complete infusion before you begin
ALWAYSÂ confirm your medication dose against the medication label and orders
ALWAYSÂ reach out to us first (not the Pharmacy) with any questions
NEVERÂ tell a Pt you have not given a particular medication before
MIXING
Obtain a clear/clean space to prepare the QFITLIA
Only to be used in adults and children 12 years of age and older
Be sure all the necessary supplies are available to complete infusion from beginning to endÂ
QFITLIA Prefilled Pen: alcohol wipe, cotton ball or gauze, sharps container
QFITLIA vial: alcohol wipes, syringe; needles
QFITLIA Prefilled Pen
The plunger stopper in the middle of the Window is normal
Do not use Pen if it has been dropped or damaged or the Blue Cap is missing or not securely attached
Do not use Pen if the Window is yellow before use. A yellow Window means the Pen has been used
Remove Blue Cap by pulling straight off, DO NOT TWIST
Do not remove Blue Cap until ready to inject
Do not touch Orange Needle Cover with fingers as needle is inside
Do not put Blue Cap back on after removing it
There may be a droplet on needle tip. This is normal
 QFITLIA vial
Draw up medication from the vial, change out the needle to SC needle
ADMINISTRATION
Take baseline vitals and document basic assessment
Prepare the injection site with alcohol wipe and let skin dry
QFITLIA Prefilled Pen:
Place QFITLIA Prefilled Pen on injection site
Hold the QFITLIA Prefilled Pen as shown so you can see the Window
Place the Orange Needle Cover on the skin at a 90-degree angle
Press down firmly – window will turn fully yellow
Press down and hold the QFITLIA Prefilled Pen firmly against the skin until you cannot see the Orange Needle Cover
There will be a click when the injection starts, and the Window will start to turn yellow
Keep pressing the QFITLIA Prefilled Pen against the skin and watch the Window. Window will turn completely yellow and one may hear a 2nd click. Injection is complete
 When injection is complete
Pull straight up to remove QFITLIA Prefilled Pen from the skin. The Orange Needle Cover will cover the needle
Do not rub the skin after the injection
If the Window does not turn completely yellow, or if it looks like patient has not received full dose, contact agency or instruct patient to call their healthcare provider right away
Do not give a second dose without approval from healthcare provider
For QFITLIA Vial:
Gently pinch a fold of skin at the cleaned injection site. Insert the needle into the skin fold at a 45° to 90° angle
Relax the skin pinch and slowly inject all of the QFITLIA solution
Gently pull out the needle and syringe from the injection site
Do not rub the skin after the injection
Monitor patient for any adverse reactions
Record vitals 5-10 minutes post infusion
Record lot numbers and expiration date for used QFITLIA Prefilled Pen or QFITLIA vials
Clean and dispose of used supplies
Do not recap the Prefilled Pen or the needle, place Pen or syringe with needle into sharps container
