MIXING
Obtain a clear/clean space to prepare the
Be sure all the necessary supplies are available to complete infusion from beginning to end. Syringe with diluent and needle are included in the drug product kit. You will need alcohol and Band-Aid.
Recommended needle size for administration is 1½” 19 gauge safety injection needle (supplied in the drug product kit). For patients with a greater skin to muscle depth, a size 2” 19 gauge needle (not supplied) may be used
Follow the mixing instructions included in the packaging
Once drawn up and mixed then change out the needle
ADMINISTRATION
Take baseline vitals and document basic assessment
Inject into the deep intragluteal region only
Rotate sites
Monitor patient for any adverse reactions
Record vitals 5-10 minutes post injection
Record lot numbers and expiration dates for vials used
Place Band-Aid at site if indicated
Clean and dispose of used supplies
