You will need: the medication (maybe autoinjector or a prefilled syringe), alcohol, gauze or cotton ball, bandage and Sharps
Remove medication from the packaging
ADMINISTRATION
Take baseline vitals and document basic assessment
Prepare the site by cleaning with alcohol and allowing to dry
Injection sites are the lower abdomen or thighs
A healthcare professional may use the back of the upper arms or the buttocks
Give patient the injection in the appropriate site
Monitor patient for any adverse reactions
Record vitals 5-10 minutes post infusion
Record lot numbers and expiration date
Place pressure bandage at site
Clean and dispose of used supplies
