ALWAYSÂ make sure you have everything you need to complete infusion before you begin
ALWAYSÂ confirm your medication dose against the medication label and orders
ALWAYSÂ reach out to us first (not the Pharmacy) with any questions
NEVERÂ tell a Pt you have not given a particular medication before
MIXING
Obtain a clear/clean space to prepare the VILTEPSO
Be sure all the necessary supplies are available to complete infusion from beginning to end. You will need IV start supplies, bag of NaCl if using less than 20 vials, empty infusion bag if using more than 20 vials, syringe(s) and needles to draw up medication, tubing (filtration is not required)
Determine the number of vials that will be used. The appropriate dose is based on patient’s body weight, with the recommended dosage of VILTEPSO 80 mg/kg. Confirm patient’s weight and correct number of vials
Remove vials from fridge, allow to warm to room temperature and mix contents of each vial by gently inverting 2 to 3 times
Withdraw the calculated volume of VILTEPSO from the appropriate number of vials
VILTEPSO infusion is always done with a volume of 100 ml
When less than 100 mL of VILTEPSO is required:
Withdraw from the 100‑mL infusion bag a volume of 0.9% sodium chloride for injection, USP, equivalent to the calculated volume of VILTEPSO solution that will be added
Withdraw the calculated volume of VILTEPSO solution from the appropriate number of vials, and inject into the infusion bag, such that the total volume in the bag is 100 ml
When 100 mL or more of VILTEPSO is required:
Withdraw the calculated volume of VILTEPSO solution from the appropriate number of vials and inject into an empty infusion bag. Further dilution is not required if the volume of VILTEPSO is 100 mL or more
ADMINISTRATION

Monitor patient for any adverse reactions
Record vitals every 15 minutes after infusion start, AND 5-10 minutes post infusion
