Differences between Pre-filled Syringes (PFS) and Non-prefilled syringe (vials)

1. Removal from fridge

· PFS remove 30 minutes prior to injection

· Non-prefilled syringe remove 15 minutes prior to injection.

2. Injection Angle

· PFS Inject at an angle of 45 – 90 degrees.

· Non-prefilled syringe Inject at 90 degrees

3. Rate of Injection

· PFS Inject over 20 – 30 seconds

· Non-prefilled syringe give over 90 seconds

Obtain a clear/clean space to prepare Vyvgart Hytrulo
Be sure all the necessary supplies are available to complete infusion from beginning to end
- You will need safety needle, alcohol swab, Sharps disposal container, bandage
Remove 1 pre-filled syringe from the carton and place any remaining prefilled syringes back into the fridge for later use.
- Remove 30 minutes prior to injection and allow it to warm to room temperature
Remove the prefilled syringe from the tray.
Check the prefilled syringe before use
- Check the expiration date
- Check the cap and condition of the prefilled syringe
- Check appearance of liquid, should be clear to yellowish in color, a little cloudiness is normal
Snap off the prefilled syringe cap and attach the safety needle

Take baseline vitals and document basic assessment
Choose and clean the injection site on the abdomen, let it air dry
- Rotate the injection site each time
- Do not inject into skin that is irritated, red, bruised, infected or tender
- Do not inject into skin that is hard, scarred, or has moles
- Do no inject into a vein
Remove the needle shield and throw into trash
- DO NOT recap the needle
Pinch the cleansed injection site, while pinching the skin, insert the needle at a 45 – 90-degree angle all the way into the pinched skin, then release the pinched skin
Slowly inject the medication over 20 – 30 seconds
- Localized injection site reactions may occur after VYVGART HYTRULO is administered
Remove the needle by pulling straight out without changing the angle that it was inserted
- Cover the needle and throw away the prefilled syringe into the Sharps container
Record vitals prior to injection AND 5-10 minutes post infusion
Record lot number and expiration date for PFS
Place bandage at site if needed.
Clean and dispose of supplies
