Visit Types

ACCESSING AND DEACCESING AN IMPLANTED PORT

Implantable central vascular ports will be maintained as ordered; when orders do not indicate, implantable central vascular ports will be maintained as follows:
- Dressing and needle change at least every 7 days when device is in use, or
- Access, flush, and de-access performed every 4-6 weeks when device is not in use.

CARDIAC (Milrinone and Dobutamine)

Teach CVC care and bag change

CATHFLO® (alteplase)

Administration of Cathflo for lines that are sluggish, not drawing back blood or occluded

CHEMO TAKEDOWN

Disconnect empty chemotherapy. Flush, Lock, & De-access CVC. Includes education on Closed System Transfer Devices.

DRESSING CHANGE & LABS

Routine Dressing Change, Line Assessment, & Lab Draw (if ordered)

ENTERAL TEACH

Nurse will educate patient and caregivers on enteral feeding practices in accordance with physician orders, pharmacy instructions/materials and policy guidelines.

ETHANOL LOCK

Use of Ethanol Lock

G-TUBE TEACH at Levine's

Bedside Teach at Levine's Hospital (for Atrium HAH)

PICC PULL

Removal of PICC or Midline

POST-OP BARIATRIC

These patients have undergone Bariatric surgery (i.e. Gastric Bypass and/or other weight loss surgeries) and have been discharged home. MD orders patient to receive consecutive days (typically 3) of Hydration along with prn Antiemetics.

START OF CARE (SOC) TEACH

Educate Pt (or Caregiver) to independently flush & administer Anti-infective using proper technique.

TPN TEACH

Educate Pt (or Caregiver) to independently flush line & administer TPN using proper technique.
